Millions for the development of aviation infrastructure in Poland

zdj

Polish Air Navigation Services Agency and the Center for EU Transport Projects signed an annex to the agreement on funding the "Development of Infrastructure of the National Air Traffic Management Body" project co-financed by the European Union Cohesion Fund under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2007-2013, Priority VI Road and air TEN-T network, Measure 6.3 Development of the TEN-T air network.

The Annex was signed on June 17, 2015 by the president of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency Magdalena Jaworska and director of the Center for EU Transport Projects Paweł Szaciłła.

As part of the changes introduced in the main agreement the number of tasks implemented by PANSA has been increased. To the list of investments co-financed under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2007-2013 added have been the investments improving the safety of air traffic and enhancing air navigation in the Polish airspace.

Thanks to the support of the European Union, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency while implementing the "Development of Infrastructure of the National Air Traffic Management Body" project will spend in the years 2007-2015 over PLN 560 million for investments related to the improvement of airspace management. The amount of financing from EU funds will be PLN 290 673 438,90.

For these funds, new air traffic control towers will be built and such elements of communication, navigation and supervisory infrastructures as: radio communication centers, ILS/DME, DVOR/DME, DME systems and radiolocation services. Improved will be the information communication system and the Polish airspace display system addressed to the Air Traffic Management Center in Warsaw, and also a new test aircraft will be purchased. Thanks to this purchase the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency will perform duties consisting in cyclic and ad-hoc control of devices and systems allowing the safe performance of flight operations on Polish territory, including operations at airports. When using the specialized test aircraft, supervisory systems are checked, i.e. radar equipment, devices for aviation communication, airfield lighting, as well as the procedures for taking off and landing developed for major communication airports in Poland.
